Sunday School

Sunday School takes place during the first part of the 10.30 am service, with junior and senior classes. It is held in the Vestry (through the door on the far left at the front of the church).
Children leave for Sunday School before the First Reading, and return before the Consecration. Parents with babies are welcome to return from the Baptistry at the same time.
We run 2 groups, 3+ to approximately 8 years and 8–13 years. Junior class do activities based on weekly themes and readings. Children move from junior to senior class at about 7 or 8, but it is flexible, depending on peer group and level of reading and writing required. The older class does a mixed course with a variety of topics including biblical work and teaching on the Sacraments, always including work on the Church’s year and major festivals. We often do a creative project in the 4 Sundays of Advent. We sometimes include topics which overlap with the ‘ribbon training’ for the choristers.
Younger siblings are welcome in the junior group if accompanied by a parent or carer, as this is a learning environment not a crèche. Otherwise, under-3’s (accompanied) can be taken to play in the Baptistry (through the doors at the back of church) where you can also feed your baby if necessary.
Sunday School for 3+ runs throughout the year except for Family Services and school holidays.
