Facilities during and after services
Even at special services such as weddings, cameras and videocameras may only be used in St Margaret’s after consultation with the clergy. During christenings, for instance, photography may only be permitted at the moment of baptism itself, though it is usually possible for the baptismal party to have their photographs taken around the font after the service.
Children’s activity materials are available for small children in a basket beside the sidesmen’s table (please replace afterwards). The room at the back of the church (through the double doors) is available for anyone who needs to take a small child out of the service for a time; the sound of the service is relayed there. (This room is known as the Baptistry.)
Toilets: there are two, one in the porch by the main entrance and one at the back of the church accessible from the choir vestry (normally open during services).
There is a sound system and loop for those with hearing aids. There is disabled access to the church and the altar area via ramps.
After the 10.30 Eucharist on Sunday refreshments (coffee, tea, and orange squash) are served – everyone is welcome. Informal celebrations with drinks and food are held on other special occasions.
