Respite Cafe in St. Giles’ church on Wednesdays 12-3pm. Tea or coffee at £2 with a free biscuit. Do support those who are vulnerable in our society. Restarting on Wednesday 22nd August.
Thursday 15th August is the feast of the Assumption of the BVM – there will be a Eucharist with hymns in church at 8pm
Children’s activities – SAMS, SAMMYS, Toddler services and the Senior Sunday School – are all taking a break over the summer and will restart in September. The Junior Sunday School will continue through the holidays.
But there will be special holiday activities this month on Fridays in church from 10am to 12 noon: this week (August 17) – Picnic: Bring & Share
Next week, August 24 – Nature trail and on August 31- Sports
Over the holiday season the choir will operate based on who is available each Sunday – normal service will resume in September along with the regular Friday evening rehearsals. Thursday Singers will also resume in September.
From September, one Sunday a month (usually the second) the Parish Eucharist will be an all age service. The PCC will be review how these services are working after a few months
We are planning Confirmation Classes, please let Andrew or Tom know if you or a family member wishes to be confirmed this Autumn.

A joint St. Giles and St. Margaret’s production of the Sound of Music in spring 2019 is being considered. We are currently in the very early stages of this project but we are keen to recruit a director, a managing director, and a choreographer. This autumn we will be celebrating Harvest on September 23 with a collection of items for the Oxford Emergency Food Bank. Below is a list of suitable items with those most needed starred, please put aside a few items as you shop over the coming weeks.

* Sugar Cereal
* Tins of Vegetables (not tomatoes or pulses) Biscuits
* Tinned or Packet Puddings Bottled Sauces
Coffee/Hot Chocolate Practical Toiletries
All food must have a clearly marked sell by date at least 3 months hence.
