Priest and Pints restarts today, in The Royal Oak after evensong at St Giles’. Pop in and chat to Tom.

The annual sponsored Ride and Stride in aid of Oxfordshire historic churches will be on Saturday 9 September. Please let Eve Barsham know (telephone 01865 511598) if you would like to take part as a cyclist, walker, welcomer or sponsor. Details are at the back of church. Half of the money we raise can go to St. Margaret’s.

We will be having an afternoon of music making on Sunday 17 September (with a rehearsal on Sunday 10 September), in memory of Anthony Aston Smith. We’ll be performing Purcell’s Come ye sons of art and some other items. If you would like to take part, please contact Samantha Schad ( Singers and instrumentalists of all ages and levels of expertise are welcome!

Sunday 24 September is Harvest Festival. After the service there will be a bring-and-share lunch followed by a Ceilidh. Please sign up for the lunch, the sign-up sheet is at the back of the Church.

Would you like to do the occasional reading at the 10.30 Sunday service, lead intercessions or help out making the coffee every couple of months or so? It would be lovely to have a few more people on the rota for any or all of these jobs – not a big commitment but much appreciated by the congregation. Greetings from Hilda Langwec. Many of you gave generously to pay for Hilda, in Gulu, Northern Uganda, to have an operation which she badly needed due to having 2 crushed vertebrae. She can now walk without sticks, no longer needs a neck support or other brace and can turn her neck without pain. She is still limping as she has some residual pain in her hip but she is considerably better than she was. Martin Carr visited her and her family at the weekend and made this short video:

The Archway Foundation is an Oxford-based charity working with lonely, socially isolated and marginalized people. It is organising a training workshop at Headington Baptist Church on Saturday 23 September from 9:30am and finishing at 12:30pm. It is on the theme of “The Loneliness of Loss” and it will be offering guidance on the pastoral support of those experiencing loneliness and isolation. There is no charge but a donation to help cover the cost of the day would be appreciated. Booking is essential. For further details please email
