Today is Remembrance Sunday and following the 10:30am service, there will be an act of remembrance at the War Memorial just outside the church.
Today after the 10:30 service there will be a Sale of produce including marmalades, jams and jellies. Proceeds from these sales have provided, as well as other items: the St Margaret’s pinnies, first used at the reception after the Confirmation; the sets of crockery, cutlery, wine glasses and tumblers used for meals and parties; children’s cassocks and various storage folders and boxes.
Please support the Sales and help us to use our Autumn produce constructively!

For the past few years we have organised a cleaning of St Margaret’s church just before Advent. We would like to get this in hand for this year, so the date for the clean-up has been set for Sunday 26 November, immediately after the 10:30am service. We are now looking for volunteers to carry out the necessary cleaning. If you would like to take part, please let Andrew or Tom know.
We need to know so that we have a good idea of what might be possible to achieve. A simple bread, soup and cheese lunch will be provided for those taking part.
Saturday 2 December, 7:30pm at Harris Manchester College, Mansfield Road: Benefit concert in aid of The Archway Foundation. Tickets £10 on the door or by reservation from 01865 769206. The Archway Foundation is an Oxford-based charity working with lonely, socially isolated and marginalized people.
Christmas is approaching; there are less than two months to go. So, Andrew would like to invite you to help one another in the process of choosing gifts by offering your views on books that you think others might enjoy reading.
A table has been set up at the west end of St Margaret’s on which books will be placed which we have found an enjoyable or informative read. If you are willing to place a book on the table, please write one paragraph as to why you enjoyed the book. The books will be returned to their owners at the end of November.
The Gatehouse is appealing for donations for Christmas presents for the homeless and vulnerably housed again this year. We hope for new donations of underpants, socks, hats, gloves, scarves and bars of chocolate.
