Christmas Journey 2018 – today is the start of Advent and that means it is the time for the Nativity figures to start their journey around the parish. If you would like the woolly crib figures to come to you for a day in the run up to Christmas, please contact Andrew as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can sign up on the form at the back of church, that way you can choose the day you would like most.

Many thanks to all who have attended or done online the Diocese Safeguarding courses C0 and C1 this autumn. We are “ahead” and the trainer warmly praised our attendance and participation. Nearly 30 people have attended or done online these courses, along with another fifteen at least from St Giles and this is a really positive and encouraging step towards our aim of being a welcoming and safe community in our Benefice. If you could not attend one of the sessions and need, or wish, to do these courses online, please ask Michele (

Sam Schad will be collecting toys for the Salvation Army to distribute to children who would otherwise not receive any Christmas presents. Please note, the toys should be new and unwrapped. Please leave any donations in the Lady Chapel on Sunday. Thank you.

The Gatehouse is seeking donations of good quality used men’s warm coats, shoes, hats and gloves. New men’s warm socks and underwear would also be most welcome. It is getting colder, and the gatehouse can give these items directly to the homeless who need them. Please bring anything you would like to donate to church on 9th December Susie Harris will ensure delivery at the Gatehouse. Thank you.

Liz Baigent is organising a decorating-the-church-for-Christmas party on 16th December after the morning service and it will be followed by lunch in church. Please contact Liz ( to volunteer or catch her after the service.

The number of newly-stitched kneelers for St. Margaret’s is gradually growing. However, we would like to step up our output! We meet monthly to sew together and if you would like to join our group please email Cheryl Trafford (
