St Margaret’s – Notices for November 18th


Please look at the Safeguarding information at the back of church and take any relevant copies.

All leaders and helpers with activities for children, young people or vulnerable adults are advised by the Diocese of Oxford that they must do C0 and C1 courses and all other members of the congregation are welcome to attend. Please sign the attendance sheet for the C1 courses here, either on Tuesday November 20th at 7.15 p.m. or on Sunday, November 25th at 2.15 p.m.

The SAMs team host a monthly Art and Craft session in St Margaret’s and are looking for help with the planning of craft, buying materials and setting up of the session for the first four SAMs of the new year. If you are able to help please let Tom know.

Do you, or anyone you know, want or need any household furniture or white goods? If you do, please contact Tom (tom) for what is available. “We are not taking most of our household items to the USA, all items free to a good home.” Tom

Lunchtime Talks at St Giles’: Thursday 22nd November at 12:30 pm –

“Buddhist stories to ponder” Speaker – Isabel Smith, Senior member of Shoboan Zen Temple, London. Everyone welcome!

The Oxford Centre for Mission Studies (OCMS) have announced their Chapel Speakers for November, as follows:

21st Revd Charles Draper, Vicar, St Peter’s Church, Wolvercote

28th Service of prayer and reflection, no speaker

The services start at 9.30am in St. Philip & St. James Church, last about for about an hour and are followed by coffee.

Jazz at St Giles’: (All concerts start at 7:30 pm).

24th November – Tommaso Starace;

1st December – David Gordon Trio.

Creation in Crisis? St Andrew’s Church in Linton Road is holding a service on creation at 6pm on Sunday 18th November. The guest speaker will be Dr Martin J Hodson, Operations Director for the John Ray Initiative and Visiting Researcher at Oxford Brookes. All welcome.

The number of newly-stitched kneelers for St. Margaret’s is gradually growing. However, we would like to step up our output! We meet monthly to sew together and if you would like to join our group please email Cheryl Trafford (

Respite Cafe in St. Giles’ church on Wednesdays 12-3pm. Tea or coffee at £2 with a free biscuit. Do support those who are vulnerable in our society.
