Interested in how best support to your children’s mental wellbeing?
Want to know more about the talk about mental health with children & teens?
Do you want some skills to help your children through worries or difficult moments?
As children grow their mental health & wellbeing develops and changes. We want to support parents who are walking alongside young people as this happens. This three-session introductory course for parents, led by NHS talking therapies, in partnership with St Margaret’s and St Giles’ churches aims to help you explore how best to support your child’s mental wellbeing.
Who is this for? Parents of children of any age, whatever your child’s mental wellbeing. This is an introductory course.
What will it involve? The sessions will cover some practical suggestions for how to speak with children about mental health, what to do in a crisis and what signs to be aware of in child mental health. However, the aim is very much for the content of the sessions to be lead by the group and so the sessions will be flexible. Refreshments will be provided.
When and Where is it? St Margaret’s Institute, Polstead Road, running on 24 Sept, 8 Oct & 22 Oct. 7pm for getting a cup of tea or coffee! Session 7.15-8.15pm.
How do I book? Please use the booking form which can be found here.
There is some more information below, if you would like to ask anything that is not included here please email Claire Browes associate@stgilestmargarets.org
Who will lead the sessions?
The sessions will be lead by people from NHS talking therapies.
Why is the church involved?
The NHS is partnering with us to reach people in our community. We are providing them with a space in which to run sessions.
Will there be religious content?
The leaders will not bring up religious issues or questions, although people are free to share what they wish during the sessions.
Is there ongoing support?
There will be signposting to further NHS support, and the church is very happy to provide on-going pastoral care for anyone in the community.
