Pilgrimage From Home 2020 – Day 7

Signs of Life – Endings

John 15. 9-17

As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete.

‘This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. I do not call you servants any longer, because the servant does not know what the master is doing; but I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father. You did not choose me but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask him in my name. I am giving you these commands so that you may love one another.

Pilgrimage from Beverley to Whitby 1998

As we draw our time travelling together on our virtual pilgrimage to a close, we know that this is just another step in our journeys. Our community at St Margaret’s Church is made up of so many people, some close and some further away, all on their own journeys but all connected through God’s love. You are part of our community and we give thanks for each one of you who have joined us this past week.

Christ has no body now on earth but yours,
no hands but yours,
no feet but yours;
yours are the eyes through which he is to look with compassion on the world;
yours are the feet with which he is to go about doing good;
and yours are the hands with which he is to bless us now
St Teresa of Avila

    Thanks to Eva, Daniel, Michele, Richard and all the singers, no doubt Hugh for the tech work, and to everyone else involved. I’ve enjoyed this Pilgrimage from Wales. Hope to see you all soon. Lynsey
